Weeky Spellings: Given out on a Monday, spelling test Friday. Spellings correspond with the phonics phase/phonemes your child is currently working on.
Maths/English Homework: Given out on a Friday, to be returned by the following Wednesday.
Reading: Children are asked to bring in their reading books/bags daily. Throughout the week children will read with an adult as part of individual reading sessions. Reading record books will be signed and comments noted where necessary. The children's books and levels will be changed as each child progresses. Sometimes children may be asked to repeat a book for consolidation. Understanding the text and developing comprehensions skills is equally as important as decoding words. We ask that you support your child with their reading at home as much as possible. This is essential in enabling them to become fluent readers and in practising the skills learnt.
Communication: Communication between teachers and parents/carers is important. If there is anything you wish to discuss, I am available after school each day. You can also make an appointment at the school office.
Curriculum: Have a look on the website for the exciting topics we have planned for this term.
