We have been listening to Luke's story of Pentecost Day. This is when Jesus kept his promise 'that we would not be alone' and sent the Holy Spirit to help us live our lives like Jesus. The children demonstrated how the Holy Spirit guides us to make good choices. In Reception we also made fire pictures, using straws to blow paint in different directions.
In the Early Years we have been talking about the different times that we gather together; such as, snack time, playing games and going to church to listen to Father Tony.
We listened to the story of Jesus and the Children from Mark 10:13-16. We understand that Jesus was kind and wanted the children to join the grown ups when listening to the stories of God. We made posters to send home to our families to welcome them to Mass.
We have been learning about the different types of celebrations that we have, both religious and irreligious. We remembered how we celebrated Jesus' birthday at Christmas and that we celebrate becoming part of God's family when we are Christened. We talked about how we celebrate our birthdays and also celebrated Chinese New Year. We listened to the story of The Presentation and recognise that God gave his people lots of different things to celebrate.
In the Early Years we have been learning about Christmas and how this is a special time for the Church. We know that this is when Jesus was born. In Reception our families joined us for 'Christmas Craft Day' to celebrate Jesus' Birthday.
In the Early Years we have been talking about how we are welcomed into school, a nice smile and our teacher says good morning. We had a party to welcome our new nursery children into our school family. We also talked about how we are welcomed into God's family. We know that when we are Baptised we become apart of God's family. We role played a baptism and used the special words 'In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.'
In Reception we have been talking about how precious we are to God. We have been looking at our names and why they are special to us.
