Welcome to our Year 1 class.  We have now settled in and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK

During 'International Week' all classes focussed on a particular country and then set up their own market stall to teach others about what they had learnt.  Year 1's focus was Spain.  We learnt all about Spain - location, language, currency, culture, food, famous people and events.  We made our own Picasso paintings and enjoyed dancing to Spanish music and tasting some authentic Spanish dishes.

OBSTACLE COURSE

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed participating in the school OBSTACLE COURSE today.  We had lots of fun.  Well done children and teachers! Thank you to those who have sponsored the children.  All contributions are greatly appreciated as they are going towards our School Trip Fund.  Thank you.

Why does it get dark earlier in winter?

We have had lots of fun exploring the world around us.  During our science topic we have been observing  changes across the seasons, investigating and describing the weather associated with each.  We recorded our observations and performed simple tests, gathering our data to help us in answering our own questions and how day length varies.

We wrote some fantastic winter poems and stories using the information gained.
