Welcome to Year 1

In maths during Autumn 1, we have been learning all about adding numbers together and different ways to help us understand and represent this.

We started with using counting cubes and counters, manipulating them in number sentences using + and =. This gradually built up into writing our own sentences and using part-whole models to help us break them down and to help us solve problems. Learning about greater than and less than symbols helped us compare different number statements. We are well equipped to move onwards in Autumn 2!

We are still having lots of fun in continuous provision when we get a chance. We are continuing to create lots of lovely patterns, build some interesting sculptures, complete tricky puzzles and read many books amongst other things!

Stay and play

Thank you to the parents who joined us for stay and play morning. Pupils were very excited and had loads of fun showing off their new classroom to you and the types of things they get up to and having a play and read.
